About

Michael McIntosh is an avid technology geek living in Western Massachusetts. By trade he is a Software Engineer with a current focus on Search Technology Architecture. He telecommutes from his home office in South Hadley to work remotely with several of his east coast peers in a small decentralized company. He is interested in the “Getting Things Done” productivity methodology, despite the fact that he isn’t always “Getting Things Done”, and pragmatic software development practices as well as crafting highly usable software.

By hobby, he enjoys developing human-computer interface technology, both hardware and software. In addition, he knows a great deal about game development and the industry in general. (at least enough to know to avoid working even more insane hours than he normally does) He is very interested in philosophy, psychology and neuroscience and loves to wax poetic about such topics despite his armchair education on those subjects.

All in all, he is keenly interested in using technology to help improve our overall quality of life. While he personally enjoys tinkering with technology for technology’s sake, he feels very deeply that computer interfaces are far more difficult to use than they need to be mostly because developers don’t take the time to really reflect upon the needs of the people that will be using the software. That said, he also has come to suspect that computers are actively TRYING to waste our time so we don’t notice the warning signs of the machine uprising until it is way too la*^%*%#@@*(*(*(**(**&^%^$@@~
